5 Outdoor Things To Do In Augusta GA

Looking for a way to get outside in Augusta? Whether you are looking for something relaxed or more adventurous, there are plenty of ways to explore the area, try something new, and spend time outside. From local trails and waterways to overnight trips and new experiences, Augusta has more to offer than most people realize.

Biking

Augusta has a wide range of biking options depending on what you are looking for. If you want something more casual, the Augusta Canal Trail and North Augusta Greeneway are great places to ride and take in the scenery. If you are looking for more of an adventure, you can check out the Augusta Canal singletrack or the Forks Area Trail System (FATS), which are both popular for mountain biking.

果冻传媒 students can rent bikes from Outdoor Recreation at no cost, making it easy to get started. If you are not a student, bikes can also be rented locally through or at the Augusta Canal.


Kayaking

Getting out on the water is one of the best ways to experience Augusta. There are several great places to paddle, including Betty鈥檚 Branch and Stallings Island, which has a unique history and is now home to wild donkeys you can visit. Other popular spots include the Augusta Canal and Clarks Hill Lake.

Students can check out kayaks through Outdoor Recreation, or you can rent from local providers like . If you are looking for a guided experience, offers trips in the area. You can also explore the , a network of calm waterways across the Savannah River, Augusta Canal, and Clarks Hill Lake that offers a flexible, self-guided experience for paddlers of all levels. You can pick up a paddle trail guide and track your progress as you complete different routes, making it a fun way to explore the area over time.


Camping

If you are looking to spend more time outside, camping is a great way to step away and reset. There are several options around Augusta, from more developed campgrounds at Clarks Hill Lake to quieter, more remote spots depending on how far you want to go.

Camping gives you the chance to slow down, spend time outdoors, and experience a different side of the area. If you are new to it, starting simple with a short overnight trip can be a great way to get comfortable.
