Discovery Series
CURS Conversations
CURS Skill Labs
The CURS Discovery Series is made for the 果冻传媒 community to learn about various opportunites
surrounding research such as funding, programming, getting involved. These are typically
led by CURS staff or guest speakers and are often held online via Teams.
CURS Conversations bring relevant speakers to the JagUR community for casual conversations
and lots of interaction. Sessions typically include guest speakers or panels and may
be about topics like graduate school, presenting at conferences, time management with
research.
CURS Skill Labs are designed for students to learn a specific skill or set of skills.
These are true hands-on workshops where experts (usually faculty) will provide basic
instruction, tips and feedback on skills such as using certain softwares, data visualization,
reading articles, writing abstracts, conducting statitistcal tests, etc..
Get to Know our CURS Ambassadors
The CURS Ambassadors are volunteer undergraduates who commit to helping the CURS office
enact our mission and vision within the larger 果冻传媒 community. To be invited as a CURS
Ambassador, students must have at least one term of undergraduate research experience,
be enrolled as a full-time student, and have demonstrated high standards of professionalism,
public speaking, and personal integrity. We are excited to announce our 2025-2026
Ambassadors:
Karthik Arora
Senior, Neuroscience
Hi! My honors thesis topic is phonological overlap effects on auditory word recognition.
Fun fact about me-I love chess.
Zeal Dobariya
Senior, Cell and Molecular Biology
Hello! My research is about how cisplatin-based chemotherapy affects chronic kidney
disease. My favorite pizza topping is pineapple.
Grace Neiswender
Senior, Cell and Molecular Biology
I am excited to share the unique opportunity 果冻传媒 offers undergraduates to start research
early and to be the bridge that helps them get there.
My research is investigating the role of the motor protein, BICD2, in neuromuscular
disease. Fun Fact: This is my third year as a CURS Ambassador!
Jasmine Baidoo
Senior, Cell and Molecular Biology
Hello! My name is Jasmine Baidoo, and I am a senior majoring in Cell and Molecular
Biology. In my lab, I am researching how changes in the proteins that organize genes
can be used to treat diffuse white matter injuries in the brain of preterm infants.
A fun fact about me is that I can play the clarinet.
Adam Chadli
Senior, Accounting
Hello! My honors thesis focuses on the characterization of a new mouse model to better
understand oncolytic virotherapy on glioblastoma. Fun Fact: I love to train and compete
in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Diana Mejia
Junior, Biology
Hi everyone! After working in research for a couple of semesters, I have grown to
love it! My current project dives into the mechanism that connects senescent cells
with age-driven periodontal disease (bone loss)! Besides working in research, I enjoy
listening to music and reading.
Alexis Mazique
Junior, Biology
Hello! I'm a junior majoring in Biology. My research focuses on identifying the most
effective treatments for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome by gathering insights from both
medical professionals and patients. Fun fact: I used to play three instruments!
Ant Jones
Junior, Cell and Molecular Biology
Hey, how's it goin'? I'm Ant! I had a rather untraditional start in research (ask
me how) and have found many parts of myself that I never imagined I'd discover. My
research involves the spatial and temporal identification and analysis of a mutation
for knockdown resistance (KDR) in
tiger mosquitos
in the CSRA. One fun fact about me is I have a pretty sizeable taxidermy collection!
Angelina Martinez
Sophomore, Neuroscience
Hello! I'm a sophomore majoring in Neuroscience and Psychology with a goal to inspire
others to participate in research and try something new! I'm currently working on
a research project investigating the effects of phonological overlap on auditory word
recognition. One fun fact about me is that I love musical theatre and have been in
over 10 shows.
